Global Recycling Day

Global Recycling Day

Today is Global Recycling Day, a time to recognise the crucial role recycling plays in protecting our planet for the future. Every year, billions of tonnes of natural resources are extracted from the Earth, yet these resources are finite. That’s why, we don’t see waste as a problem – we see it as an opportunity.

Sustainability at the Core of Protec Group

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to operate the UK’s first GreenCircle Certified ClosedLoop Remanufacturing Scheme in the construction sector, ensuring that our ProplexRE protection sheets are made from 100% waste plastic. This approach helps conserve valuable resources, reduces waste, and significantly cuts carbon emissions.

Investing in a Greener Future

We’ve invested over £2 million in a state-of-the-art wash plant and recycling line, enabling us to collect used protection sheets directly from construction sites. Rather than allowing these materials to end up in landfill or energy recovery facilities, we recycle and transform them into new protection products – closing the loop and creating a truly sustainable cycle.

A Positive Impact

Since launching our ClosedLoop scheme, we’ve successfully remanufactured 6,000 tonnes of waste that would otherwise have been discarded. Instead, this material has been repurposed into high-quality, post-consumer product ranges, helping construction companies reduce their environmental impact while maintaining top-tier site protection.

The Future of Recycling in Construction

As the industry moves towards more sustainable practices, recycling and remanufacturing will play a critical role in reducing waste and carbon footprints. At Protec Group, we’re committed to innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring that our solutions not only meet the highest quality standards but also contribute to a greener, more responsible future.

On this Global Recycling Day, we’re celebrating progress – but we know there’s still more to do. By working together, embracing sustainable solutions, and closing the loop, we can build a future where waste is no longer wasted.
